Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy has become a fashionable treatment to have. However the term Mesotherapy refers to a very old technique whereby multiple injections of active ingredients are introduced into the skin. Face and body areas can be treated and depending on the active ingredient many indications can be addressed.

What is Mesotherapy?

Pioneered in France in 1952 by Dr. Michael Pister, this treatment involves multiple, painless, micro-injections of pharmaceutical and homeopathic medications, natural plant extracts and vitamins to the mesoderm. The mesoderm is the layer of adipose fat cells and connective tissue under the skin.

What conditions can be treated using this technique?

Depending on the active ingredients that are chosen, Mesotherapy can work well on a range of facial and body conditions to bring about anti ageing and rejuvenation.

Fat and cellulite can be treated very successully as well as rejuvenation of the face, neck and decollette.

How does Mesotherapy work on fat and cellulite?

Mesotherapy is a proven, non-surgical, safe and effective treatment for fat and cellulite reduction and body sculpting. In fact Mesotherapy can be used anywhere cellulite and excess fat exists including the thighs, love handles, double chin, eye bags and the stomach.

Fat molecules are composed of fatty acids, glycerol and water. As the mesotherapy, with its anti-oxidant vitamins and other allopathic medicine, breaks down the fat molecules these substances are reabsorbed and excreted by the body. There are no harmful side-effects with this treatment other than minor swelling at the injection sites.

Cellulite can be effectively managed with the use of Mesotherapy. Mesotherapy treatment stimulates the mesoderm, or middle layer of the skin, which in turn helps to disburse the cellulite.

How does Mesotherapy produce anti ageing effetcs on the face?

When the body is attacked by various stresses (fatigue, pollution, tobacco, UV, toxins, inflammations, trauma etc) large quantities of free radicals are produced at cellular level. Free radical toxicity is responsible for the development of an important number of diseases including degenerative and ageing disorders. In order to combat this radical toxicity, our body has several defense mechanisms such as anti-oxydant enzymes, vitamins and flavonoids. We absorb a big part of these anti-oxidants through our everyday food. However, as our society uses more and more refined and chemically treated products, our food is very often deficient in anti-oxidants. Mesotherapy delivers, via an intra-dermal subcutaneous medicine injection method, vitamins B, C, A, E and Magnesium reducing the free radicals toxic processes as well as slowing down the degradation of the cells membrane responsible for ageing.

Is the treatment painful?

In most cases the injections are very close to the surface of the skin and there is minimal discomfort. However topical anesthetic can be applied before the treatment to allieviate any pain.

How long will the treatment sessions last?

The technique is applied in 15 to 30 minute sessions and typically between four and eight sessions are required. Usually results can be seen after the first few sessions but this can vary from person to person.

What is the cost of Mesotherapy?

This will vary according to what condition is being treated and the amount of sessions required. Courses of treatment are available and following your consultation your practitioner will be able to discuss the costs.
